River Trent / Canal Circuit at Nottingham
Richard, Gordon, Josh, Nicola, Row, Charlotte, Martin, Sam, Dave Hutt, Paul
An autumn trip around the circuit from Nottingham to Beeston starts at Victoria Embankment on the River Trent near the City Centre. After launch, we head down the river for a quarter of a mile before portaging up to the Beeston Canal. Then we passed through the city centre heading along the canal to the lock at Beeston.
Here there’s a short drag across to join the River Trent below the weir. All passed on shooting, but it offers a brief play spot. A little way below Josh and Paul are introduced to ferry gliding on moving water. The River Trent flows quite quickly and it’s an effortless drift towards Nottingham. And the forecast rain held off until after we were travelling home.
