We all met up at the centre car park to inspect the mighty Dee with some disappointment due to the lack of food being served in the cafe. We then drove up to just below Horseshoe falls with a short walk to the get-on. After a quick safety brief, we set off down the river until we reached Serpent’s tail. We all inspected the rapid and decided on the plan of action. We spent a while there with most people having a run or two (some having a swim or two). Those who didn’t paddle had a good opportunity to gain some experience providing some safety cover which was greatly appreciated by all.
We then carried on down the river with some people finding playspots, some learning new skills and others just chatting the day away. We arrived at JJ’s (the centre) and all managed to get down without incident. After a seal launch down the bank and a bite to eat – not at the same time.
Most people got off there except Martin and I. The two of us went down to Town falls in the center of Llangollen where we were overlooked by the rest of the group. Martin decided to ‘experiment’ with the line which ended in a cold experience and an interesting rescue above the dangerous weir. All ended well with a drink in the pub overlooking the longest aquaduct in Britian.
A big well done to everyone and thanks to Dave to organising and running a great trip.
