The Sun was shining for our annual White water safety day.
This year it was on the River Dee in Llangollen. We had a slight change this year by hiring a BCU coach for the day instead of using ” rescue 3″ as we have done before, mainly to keep costs down and also so we could tailor the course to suit everyone on it.
There was 12 members on the course with a various range of experience. During the day we learnt/practiced all type of swimming in moving water including defensive, aggressive, barrel rolls etc. We did a lot of work with throw lines as a victim and rescuer, used slings, learnt about and used chest harnesses including live baiting, and tried lots of other useful rescue techniques during the day.
Everyone had a very wet but fun day and came away with some very good skills and experience for their future paddling adventures.
