This was a Club Network Mercia trip with The Potteries Paddlers being the organiser for this event.
We started off with four HCC members interested in this trip, Dave Clarke (Our Glorious Leader), Richard Matthews, Dave Hutt & myself Robert Harrison.
I was itching for a paddle after trying to get out for weeks and failing due to too much rain.
With this being a flat water trip too much water wasn’t going to be a problem but Dave Clarke had van trouble so couldn’t make it. Richard decided it was going to be too cold for him so it was left to Dave Hutt and myself to represent HCC.
To be fair to Richard it was FREEZING in the morning and the car did need a good scraping before we could get going. I’m sure Richard and Dave will be very disappointed they didn’t go as the weather was great by the time we got to the Reservoir.
We did a 7Km paddle around the lake and had a fab time chatting with members of the different clubs. A very friendly bunch. As I’m new to paddling I took the opportunity to ask questions about the the kit people were using and even had the chance to try a few different boats out.
The day ended with a short walk and a pint 🙂
A total of 6 clubs took part.
